There's an interface called DataBoundsProvider that is used by the
com.bbn.openmap.gui.menu.DataBoundsViewMenuItem. You could have a
component added to the MapHandler that does what that menu item does
when it finds your layer (which would implement that DataBoundsProvider
interface).
