There is code in the package to do this for both shape data and VPF
data. The shape code is com.bbn.openmap.layer.shape.MultiRoadLayer,
which depends on the com.bbn.openmap.tools.roads package.
You probably want to start with the MultiRoadLayer.getPathOnRoad(...)
method.
