Hi Dirk,

You can create a OMDrawingTool within your layer and add
DrawingToolLoaders to it to handle different OMGraphic types.
Something like the EditorLayer?

On the other hand, you can create a BasicMapPanel in your Panel,
containing your MapBean and some Layers, and use the MapHandler to
connect everything up within your map as a self-contained component.

The MapHandler is just a handshake enabler. You don't really gain
anything by not using it, especially since the OpenMap components are
expecting to use it.
