Hi Erich,

Yeah, it becomes an issue of the BasicMapPanel placing two components
at the MapHandlerChild.SOUTH location.

I think you'd have extend the BasicMapPanel to change it's layout a
little. You could catch the situation where more than one component
is added to a dimension, the previous component is replaced with a
JPanel. You could give the new JPanel a BorderLayout and then add
the two components to the NORTH/SOUTH areas, and it should look like
what you'd expect.
