I've had the same problem for months - enclosing in a JPanel didn't help,
unfortunately. Note that only the shape layers get drawn outside their
area...

Hi Chuck,

The MapBean sometimes acts weird in some components (JSplitPane,
etc). If you wrap it in a JPanel, those effects seem to go away.
