[OpenMap Users] How do I repaint() a single layer on the map?

Hi all,

I have a map that contains multiple layers. I've noticed that when I call
repaint() on one of the layers, all of the layers in the map get repainted.
This is not the behavior I desire. The layer that I want to repaint has
minimal data on it, but needs to be repainted a lot. I have other layers
that contain a whole bunch of data, so I don't want them to be repainted
every time I repaint the layer with less data.

Is there a way to call repaint() so that it only effects the layer it is
being
called on?

Thanks in advance for your help,
