[OpenMap Users] how do i add a label in my polygon layer?

hi everyone,
  i have a simple map of a polygon layer representing counties read in from a shapefile. i'm using OpenMap in combination with the Repast agent-based toolkit.
  i'm representing these as Repast "agents" where i have a class CountyAgent.java (which implements OpenMapAgent and GisAgent) which owns an OMGraphic to represent the underlying EsriPolygon in the shapefile.
  how to i add a label for the county name (which is in the shapefile) to the polygon display?
  i was able to get the map mouse interpreter/tool tip text working so when i hover over the polygon, it highlights it and displays the name, but i want the polygon name to always appear when i display the layer.
  do i use OMText for this and use an OMGraphicList to wrap both the OMGraphic and OMText?
