Mike,

That did the trick! I guess I needed to know the directory naming
convention for DTED data. Now that I've pointed my layer to the right spot,
it displays my data.

However, there is still the problem of the log messages that get spewed
whenever I have a DTED layer in my map, but I'm not in the valid range for
that data. Does anyone know what can be done about this?
