That is unrelated. SVN is a source code repository. Maven is a used to
keep track of dependencies and automate building a project. We use both
SVN and maven internally as they are complementary.

To get openmap into my private maven repo and even more stuff have to be
done in order to get it into our company repo. If openmap is published
into a public maven repo it will be much more convenient to use openmap
with maven as it would save the effort of downloading and
building/managing the jar's etc. Also, pushing new snapshots (beta's)
via a public maven repo to the "masses" instead of having to go through
the svn update/build cycle would provide the means for more effective
beta testing I think.
