Hi Chris,

I just looked at the Android API, and OpenMap won't run on it.
OpenMap depends on Java Swing and other java.awt classes that aren't a
part of Android's API.

That said, I think a lot of OpenMap could be used on Android. Parts
of the OMGraphic package would need to be modified to take the java 2D
parts out and substituted with Android API components. The projection
package should work, and the parts that read data sources should still
work. The other main parts that would need to be rewritten: MapBeans,
Layers, MapHandler, all the event components and GUI components.
That's just off the top of my head. I haven't used the Android SDK,
either, so I have no experience porting Java GUI apps to Android to
base any estimations of the work involved.

Hope this helps,

Don

This seems to rule out googe-maps-based approaches, and as I'm more familiar with Java than Objective-C we're leaning towards an Android tablet like the Xoom.
