You would write a layer to make a query to the DQE component, and to
communicate with the DQE component to create OMGraphics from the
result to display on that layer. If you can communicate with DQE
programmatically through Java, it shouldn't be that hard to get the
information flow going.

I don't understand this question, I'm getting confused between the
distinction you are drawing between applet and web clients.
